General systems Flashcards
What does the Flight Control Electronic Control Unit do?
Receives and sends information for all flight control systems
The Take-off Horn will sound with:
- Weight on the nose wheel AND
- Both engines > 50% torque AND
- Any of the following:
a. Inboard or Outboard Spoilers are extended
b. Elevator Trim out of take-off range
c. Parking brake engaged
d. One or both Condition Levers not at MAX 1020
e. Flaps extended more than 20 deg. or less than 3.6 deg.
What indicates a malfunction of the elevator pitch feel unit?
"Elevator Feel" caution If FCECU detects loss of ability to command or control pitch feel actuators the following additional caution lights may also be illuminated: "Pitch Trim" "Rud Ctrl" "Splr Outbd"
What does the FCECU do for rudder?
Regulates hydraulic pressure in response to airspeed
Airspeed up = Pressure down
RUD 1 on the Powered Flight Control Shutoffs lights up “Push Off”; what does this indicate?
Rudder PCU jam
What indicates that the jammed rudder PCU is depressurized?
Powered Flight Control Shutoffs: RUD 1 OFF
Caution: “#1 RUD HYD”
What does Caution “RUD CTRL” mean?
FCECU loses its ability to limit hydraulic pressure, OR
BOTH hydraulic systems fail
At what airspeed are outboard spoilers deactivated?
Airspeeds > 170 KIAS
What does Powered Flight Control Shutoffs “SPLR 1 PUSH OFF” mean?
Inboard spoiler PCU linkage jam
When you push off the Powered Flight Control Shutoffs “SPLR 1” what happens?
The actuator unload valve closes and allows inboard spoilers to retract
“ROLL SPLR INBD HYD” Caution illuminates
What control is available to the copilot after roll connect handle pulled/turned?
Aileron control ONLY
After the roll disconnect has been pulled, rotation of the right yoke more than:
50 deg. from neutral will result in the simultaneous illumination of SPLR 1 and SPLR 2 switchlights
What does illumination of BOTH “ROLL SPLR INBD HYD” and “ROLL SPLR OUTBD HYD” mean?
The tension on the spoiler cable system dropped, and the sensor retracts the spoilers
What does “SPLR OUTBD” mean?
- FCECU failed to lock-out the outboard spoilers above 170 kts, OR
- FCECU inadvertently locked-out the outboard spoilers below 170 kts
What does caution “Flap Power” mean?
No operation of flap is available; remains in last selected position
