Q

What is interval measurement? Give example

A

Distance between attributes DOES have meaning. But there is no “true zero” so attributes can be added and subtracted, but not multiplied.

Example: Temperature. 10-20 degrees is the same distance as from 70-80 degrees.

Q

What is ordinal measurement? Give example

A

Attributes can be rank-ordered, but distance between attributes do not have meaning. Just tells you if something is more or less of something else in rank.

Example: Educational attainment (1=some college, 2=college degree), Likert scales
