General Description Flashcards
Total length of aircraft including rotor tips?
100 ft (98’ 10.7”)
What is the rotor diameter of each rotor?
60 ft
What is the lowest point of the tip path plane front and back (static)?
Rotor height while static is 7’ 8” for the forward, which can be as low as 4’ 4” with control settling, and 16’ 1” for the aft.
Rotor height while turning is 10’ 11” for the forward and 18’ 11” for the aft.
What are the dimensions of the aircraft without rotors?
The helicopter airframe is 50’ 9” long, by 12’ 5” wide with an overall height of 18’ 8”.
What are the engines on the CH47D?
Powered by two turbo shaft engines, T55−GA−714 which produce in excess of 10,000 Shaft Horse Power (SHP).
How many and where are the fire extinguishers?
One is in the cockpit, on the floor to the right of the pilot’s seat.
One on the left hand side of the Sta.120 bulkhead.
One in the left rear Sta.493, just forward of the ramp.
How many emergency exit lights, where, and when do they come on?
Two are located in the cabin area at Sta.160, one by the main cabin door, and the other emergency exit light is opposite the main cabin door, and the ramp emergency exit is located at Sta.600.
The lights come on whenever a loss of power on the switched battery bus occurs or during a landing when 3 to 4g’s are exceeded as sensed by an inertia switch.
Weight limit in cabin?
Compartments C, D, and E are limited to 300 Pounds per Square Foot (PSF).
Weight limit of ramp?
When used for additional cargo space, the ramp must be positioned so that the ramp floor is level with the cargo floor. In this situation, the weight of the cargo item resting on the ramp must not exceed 3,000 pounds or 300 (PSF).
What are the options for opening center cargo hook?
Hydraulically (norm)
In the event of a loss in utility system pressure, the cargo hook can be opened pneumatically or manually
Options for release of forward and aft cargo hooks?
The normal mechanisms (electrical) can be operated by either pilot or by a crewmember. In an emergency, both hooks can also be released from the cockpit through a dedicated emergency release circuit (also electrical) or manually by a crewmember.
Max allowable weight for water Ops…can we do?
36,000 lbs (46,000 in emergency) but water landing prohibited by Coulson
Restrictions on water landings?
Operation on water is restricted to 30 minutes total flotation time without draining the helicopter. A 2408−13−1 entry is required.
Water landings are prohibited when fuel in the main tanks is less than 50 percent.
Engine beep trim switches control what?
The N2 section of the engine
What are engine transmissions referred to?
Nose box assembly
