Q

What is the standard fuel burn sequence?

A
  1. Fuel burnt from wing tanks until 85.6% Capacity = 2610kg.
  2. The aircraft will then automatically transfer fuel from centre tank to wing tanks until centre tank is empty.
  3. Fuel from main tanks then burnt.

Q

DM - If the aircraft is exposed to temperatures below 0 after being de-iced can the aircraft still depart?

A

Yes, but the aircraft cannot be in any active (falling) precipitation. Including Fog, Mist, Hail, Rain, Drizzle, Snow or Sleet. NJS prohibits departure in these conditions.

16
Q

DM - What is the difference in visibility between fog and mist?

A

Below 1,000m Vis = FOG
Above 1,000m Vis = Mist

17
Q

DM - What are the critical surfaces of the aircraft in reference to icing?

A

Wings, Horizontal Stab, Vertical Stab, Control Surfaces and Engine Inlets.

18
Q

DM - If ice is only noted on the upper surface of the fuselage and markings can be distinguished is the aircraft permitted to depart?

A

Yes, the fuselage is not considered a critical surface. But ice formation on a large surface could have considerable effect on drag and weight.

19
Q

DM - What is the holdover time for active frost with a composite wing?

A

35mins

20
Q

DM - Is spraying of de-ice fluid with the aero-bridge still attached and door open permitted?

A

No, the aircraft must have all doors closed prior to any spraying.
(Ref; DM 2.5.5)

21
Q

DM - When is the WAI system required to be operated?

A

On for Takeoff when OAT is 5c or below, and visible moisture is present in any form (FOG/MIST visibility less than 1500m)

22
Q

DM - When is the CAI required to be operated?

A

ON for taxi and Takeoff when OAT is 10c or below, and visible moisture in any form (FOG/MIST visibility less than 1500m)

23
Q

DM - When is ice shedding required?

A

OAT is 3c or below and visible moisture in any form is present. 60%N1
