  • carry out hygienic hand wash with soap and water
  • use right elbow to put 5ml alcohol based hand wash into left hand
  • spend 5 seconds disinfecting right fingernails in the gel
  • spend 10-15 seconds covering right forearm and elbow in the hand wash using circular movements
  • repeat on opposite side
  • complete hygienic hand wash again with hand rub
  • wait until hands are dry to put on gloves
