Activated by any kind of intense stimulus that result in tissue damage.
Produces a sensation of pain .

Respond to light stimuli if the intensity is great enough. Only found in the eye.

A
Sense levels of osmotic pressure in body fluids. Concentrated in the hypothalamus.

- Activated by light pressure, mechanical.
- Produce sensation of touch and low frequency vibration
