Gender and religious involvement

What type of organisations are women involved in?

Answer 1

• less involved in some religions due to the restrictions they may face e.g islam, judaism etc
• however they may still be drawn to religion as a way for advice and guidance
  
  • women express a greater interest in religion because they have the expressive role in the house meaning they have more opportunity to attend church

- provide comfort to women as they focus on wellbeing and can be reassuring
- offer women ways to improve themselves
- offer ways for women to find themselves as within their life they may have given all their interests or opportunities up for other things e.g family, domestic duties, having a career as women have to work twice as hard
-may have lost themselves in the process
-less restricting than the church and does not allow them to feel inferior

• traditional churches give them more status so stick to what they know
