- argue that the religion offers compensation to help women keep on going and not challenege
- may believe that they get compensated in the afterlife
- men do not need compensation because they have privilege in society already and dominate

e.g eve was created from adams rib because adam needed a helper so her purpose was simply for adam
- eve is seen as the one who manipulated adam to eat the fruit - “original sin”
- because of this many churches believe that women need to be controlled and should not be in power - leads to women needing extra restrictions e.g clothing, access to divorce, virginity (limitations and expectations)
