Q

PROS AND CONS OF NONSTANDARDIZED EVALUATIONS

A

PROS:

  • MINIMAL FINANCIAL COSTS
  • CAN DO AT EVERY SESSION
  • INCLUDING CL AND CO PERSPECTIVES INCREASES VALIDITY
  • EASILY ADAPTED FOR DIVERSE CLIENTS
  • WHEN USED WEEKLY, THEY PROVIDE FEEDBACK ON WHAT IS NOT WORKING SO THAT CO CAN ADJUST THE TX PLAN

CONS

  • NOT AS RELIABLE OR VALID AS STANDARDIZED MEASURES
  • DIFFICULT TO USE WITH CHILDREN IF PARENTS ARE NOT THERE TO HELP PROVIDE INFO
  • MORE DIFFICULT TO USE WITH PERSONS WITH SEVERE PATHOLOGY AND/OR THOSE WHO ARE UNABLE TO ACCURATELY RECALL EVENTS BETWEEN SESSIONS
  • WITH CERTAIN COUPLES AND FAMILIES, DATA SHOULD BE COLLECTED ON PAPER TO GET ASSESSMENTS THAT ARE NOT INFLUENCED BY THE COMMENTS OF OTHER MEMBERS
