Q
A
- Retrospective study 50 dogs.
- Serum vitamin D can be decreased in dogs with CE (especially PLE) due to malabsorption.
- Low Mg common in dogs with CE and low VitD.
- iMg correlated to iCa, PTH and Vit D,
- Mild hypomagnesaemia = increased PTH, Severe hypomagnesaemia = paradoxically decreased PTH.
- Low magnesium was associated with secondary hyperparathyroidism.
- Magnesium weakly correlated with vitamin D. Unclear if magnesium supplementation is of benefit
