• Serum vitamin D can be decreased in dogs with CE (especially PLE) due to malabsorption.
• Low Mg common in dogs with CE and low VitD.
• iMg correlated to iCa, PTH and Vit D,
• Mild hypomagnesaemia = increased PTH, Severe hypomagnesaemia = paradoxically decreased PTH.
• Low magnesium was associated with secondary hyperparathyroidism.
• Magnesium weakly correlated with vitamin D. Unclear if magnesium supplementation is of benefit
