- Geographic Location (ex. Japan)

- Premalignant conditions (ex. atrophic gastritis, pernicious anemia)

What is Linitis Plastica?
Stomach cancer not associated with H. pylori infection or chronic gastritis. Characterized by rigid stomach that does not dilate after eating.
When are men more likely to present with pancreatic cancer? Women?
Men: older population (60-80yrs)
Women: younger population
What two medical conditions are associated with high incidence of developing pancreatic cancer?
Diabetes
Chronic Pancreatitis
Most common type of pancreatic cancer.
Mucin-producing ductal adenocarcinoma
How do pancreatic cancer patients present?
Abdominal and upper back pain while standing that is relieved when bent over. Intense pain while lying supine.
What does jaundice AND a tail pancreatic cancer indicate?
Metastasis to the liver
Three tests best used to diagnose pancreatic cancer and Tx.
Dx: CT, ultrasound, ERCP
Tx: whipple procedure
