What is the number indicator of a anastomosis leak?
Tachycardia
What are s/s of a Pulmonary Emoblism
SOB, diaphoresis, anxiety, cold and clammy, chest pain, syncope
What are some signs of protien deficiency
Hair loss Delayed wound healing Anemia Muscle weakness and fatigue Irritability, depression, anxiety
Discharge instructions for bypass surgery
Follow the eating regimen and keep food diary
PROTEIN PROTEIN
Gradually eat more (stomach only size of an egg)
Wait 30 mins to drink after eating
Avoid sugar, alcohol, and caffeine
Avoid aspirin
Take your temperature BID for the first week
Use chewable vitamins, Prevacid, Vitamin B12 and calcium supplements
Who is a candidate for gastric bypass surgery?
BMI > 35 with medical condition
Morbidly Obese : 100 lbs overweight
