Gaseous Exchange Flashcards
1
Q
Describe gaseous exchange between the alveoli and cappilleries
A
-oxygen moves from the air in the alveoli into the blood in the capillaries, while carbon dioxide moves from the blood in the capillaries into the air in the alveoli.
2
Q
What is diffusion give an example
A
Diffusion is when molecules move from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration in attempt to reach a balance.
E.g there is a higher concentration of oxygen in the air in the alveoli then there is in the blood, so oxygen molecules diffuse into the blood in the capillaries
3
Q
What happens to gaseous exchange during exercise
A
The process happens faster and greater (more oxygen diffuses)
