Gall Bladder General Etiologies
General Etiology: The main function of the Gallbladder is storing bile.
Patterns very closely related to the Liver’s controlling of the smooth movement of Qi.
Diet: Affected by dampness and therefor the healthy functioning of the Spleen, as well as consumption
of fatty and greasy foods that can cause dampness.
Emotional Strain: Like the Liver, it is easily affected by emotions like anger, frustration, and resentment
that can cause stagnation of Liver Qi, which can produce heat. Over time, this can lead to fire,
presenting with symptoms of irritability, a bitter taste in the mouth, thirst, headaches, etc.
Exterior Pathogenic Factors: Exterior Dampness can invade leading to Dampness in the Gallbladder.
Dampness with heat.
In hot humid climates, Dampness and Heat can cause Damp-Heat in the Gallbladde
GB Deficiency s/sx
Dizziness, blurred vision, floaters, nervousness, timidity, a propensity to being easily
startled, lack of courage and initiative, indecision, sighing, (this is happening cause the GB is trying to cource) waking up early in the morning,
restless dreams.
T: Pale or Normal; P: Weak

Tonify and warm the Gallbladder, and tonify Liver
Qi.

Hypochondrial pain, fullness and distention, nausea, vomiting, inability to digest fats,
yellow complexion, scanty and dark yellow urine, fever, thirst without desire to drink, bitter
taste, dizziness, tinnitus, irritability, feeling of heaviness of the body, numbness of the
limbs, swelling of the feet, loose stools or constipation, alternation of hot and cold feelings,
yellow sclera, a feeling of heat.
T: Thick sticky yellow coating, either bilateral in two strips or unilateral;
P: Slippery-Wiry-Rapid

stimulate the smooth flow of Liver Qi
