Gallbladder Meridian Flashcards
Trace the Gallbladder Meridian, number of points, yin or yang, sympathetic or parasympathetic
44 points, yang, sympathetic
GB 14 location, insertion and needle depth, use?
On the forehead in line with the pupil when looking straight ahead or the mid point btw the eyebrow or the superior orbital margin, 1 cun above the superior orbital margin and 2 cun below the hairline
Oblique superior to inferior at a depth of 0.5 to 1 cun
Muscular frontal headache or bell’s palsy
GB 20 location, insertion and needle depth, use?
Depression btw the occipital bone at the level of GV 16, btw the trapezius and SCM midway btw the midline and the mastroid process
Towards the tip of the nose or opposite eye at a depth of 0.5-1 cun
Sympathetic switch, occipital neuralgia, pain and inflammation of SCM and traps, vascular headache and dizziness, fibromyalgia and spastic or spasmodic torticollis
GB 21 location, insertion and needle depth, use?
Midpoint of the line connecting the lower margin of C7 spinous process and lateral aspect of acromion
Tap the needle through the skin, then pick up the skin and underlying muscle and insert the needle posterior to ant and inferior to superior into the muscle at a depth of 0.5 to 0.8 cun
Myofascial strain/sprain of traps, neck rigidity and pain, shoulder and back pain, fibromyalgia and spastic and spasmodic torticollis
GB 29 location, insertion and needle depth, use?
Midpoint btw ASIS and most prominent point of GT, located in side lying
Intra articular, lateral to medial and slightly inferior at a depth of 1-3 cun
OA and RA of the hip, gluteal and trochanteric bursitis, pain and inflammation of any joint, myofascial strain of TFL, glute med and min
GB 30 location, insertion and needle depth, use?
At the junction of the lateral 1/3 and medial 2/3 of the distance on the line btw the sacral hiatus and the most prominent posterior point of the greater trochanter
Post to ant, perpendicular to the skin at a depth of 3-4 cun
Trochanteric bursitis, OA and RA of the hip, hip ligamentous sprain, LBP, sciatica, motor and sensory disorders of the L/E, hemiplegia and muscle atrophy of the L/E
GB 31 location, insertion and needle depth, use?
Lateral aspect of the thigh, 7 cun above the popliteal crease
Lateral to medial cutaneous at a depth of 1.5 to 2 cun
Gluteal and trochanteric bursitis, hip abductor strain, meralgia paresthetica
GB 34 location, insertion and needle depth, use?
On the lateral aspect of the leg, inferior to the head of the fibula and ant to the neck, 2 cun below the lateral joint line
Lateral to medial at a depth of 1-1.5 cun
Sympathetic switch (special point for MSK disorders), often used with SP 9 to treat entire knee joint, pain and inflammation of lateral aspect of the knee joint, ligament strain and sprain, chondromalcia, PFPS
GB 40 location, insertion and needle depth, use?
Ant and inf to the lateral malleolus in the sinus tarsi
Intra articular perpendicular to the skin at a depth of 1 - 1.5 cun
Inflammation of the ankle, lateral ankle sprain, OA
