Bladder Meridian Flashcards
Trace the Bladder Meridian, number of points, yin or yang and sympathetic or parasympathetic
67 points, yang, sympathetic

BL 10 location, insertion and needle depth, use?
On the level of the C2 spinous process (same as GV 15) 1.3 cun lateral to the midline in the depression on the lateral aspect of the traps
Perpendicular post to ant at a depth of 0.5 to 1 cun
Pain on posterior aspect of head and neck, occipital headaches, torticollis, pain and spasm of traps and SCM, whip lash, greater occipital nerve neuralgia, RA at C1-C2 and ligamentous strain at C1-C2
BL 23 location, insertion and needle depth, use?
1.5 cun lateral to the midline at the level of the lower border of the spinous process of L2
Oblique at a 30-45 degree angle to the skin lateral to medial
Sympathetic switch: sympathetic vascular conditions of the lower extremity, sympathetic hypersensitivity, inflammation of the spine, pain/inflammation/spasm of paraspinals, RA, ankylosing spondylitis, LBP
BL 25 location, insertion and needle depth, use?
1.5 cun lateral to the midline at the level of the lower border of the spinous process of L4
Perpendicular to the skin, post to ant at a depth of 1-1.5 cun
DDD, OA, ligamentous sprain/strain, lumbago, sprain of QL
BL 31 location, insertion and needle depth, use?
Approximately 1 cun lateral to the midline in the first sacral foramen
Perpendicular ot the skin into the first sacral foramen at a depth of 1-1.5 cun
Parasympathetic switch, SI sprain, piriformis syndrome, pain in hip girdle muscles, sciatica in the S1
BL 32 location, insertion and needle depth, use?
Approximately 1 cun lateral to the midline in the second sacral foramen at the level of the lower border of the SI
Perpendicular ot the skin into the second sacral foramen at a depth of 1-1.5 cun
Parasympathetic switch, SI sprain, piriformis syndrome, pain in hip girdle muscles
BL 53 location, insertion and needle depth, use?
3 cun lateral to the midline at the level of the S2 foramen or the lower edge of the SI joint, just lateral to the sacrum
Perpendicular to the skin at a depth of 1 - 1.5 cun
Myofascial strain of TFL, glute med and min, LBP
BL 54 location, insertion and needle depth, use?
3 cun lateral to the midline at the level of the S4 foramen about 1 cun above the sacral hiatus
Perpendicular to the skin at a depth of 1.5 - 2 cun

BL 36 location, insertion and needle depth, use?
Midpoint of gluteal fold
Posterior to anterior at a depth of 1.5 - 2 cun
Ischial tuberosity pain and inflammation
BL 37 location, insertion and needle depth, use?
6 cun below BL 36 on the midline of the posterior aspect of the thigh or 8 cun above the middle of the popliteal crease
Perpendicular at a depth of 1-1.5 cun

BL 40 location, insertion and needle depth, use?
Mid poitn of popliteal crease btw the tendons of biceps fem and semitendinosus
Post to ant perpendicular to skin, flex the knee slightly to take the tension of the posterior neural and vascular structure at a depth of 1-1.5 cun
Parasympathetic switch, increases ROM of knee, hamstring tendonitis, Baker’s cyst, LBP, achilles tendinitis
BL 57 location, insertion and needle depth, use?
On the post of the leg, at the apex of the inverted V of the musculotendinous junction of the gastrocs, 8 cun below the popliteal crease and 8 cun above the level the most prominent point of the lateral malleolus
