Scalping
Toe of the front foot hits the dorsal wall or coronary region of the hind foot, usually at an extended trot.
Speedy cutting
The inside of a back leg collides with the front foot on the some side.
Interference - hind, base narrow
Hoof of one foot hits the opposite limb during swing phase.
Interference - hind, cow hocks
Hoof of one foot hits the opposite limb during swing phase.
Stumbling
Interference between the toe of a foot and the ground during the swing phase.
Crossfiring
A collision between medial toe of the hind foot and the medial heel/leg of the diagonal (front) limb at a pace.
Toe dragging
The toe swings low enough to drag through the dirt/sand. Laziness of lameness are possible causes.
Overreaching
Hind toe hitting heel region or bulbs of the front foot on the same side. Front foot may still be on the ground or in the air.
Elbow hitting
Heel of the hoof hitting the elbow of the same leg. Usually high actioned show horses.
Forging
At the walk or trot, the hind toe hits the bottom of the front foot on the same side in midair.
Interference - front, toed out
Hoof of one foot hits the opposite limb during swing phase.
