G Flashcards
GCM
Galois Counter Mode
A mode of operation for symmetric-key cryptographic block ciphers that uses universal hashing over a binary Galois field to provide authenticated encryption.
Provides confidentiality and authenticity for the encrypted data and authenticity for the additional authenticated data (AAD) which is not encrypted.
GDPR
General Data Protection Regulation
A European Union law that protects the privacy and security of personal data. It applies to organizations that process personal data from EU citizens or residents, or offer goods or services to them, regardless of where the processing takes place.
GPG
Gnu Privacy Guard
An open-source alternative to PGP that uses a system of public and private keys for the encryption and signing of messages or data. It follows the OpenPGP encryption standard.
An open-source command line system that allows you to encrypt and sign your data and communications, has a key management system, and has access modules for many public key directories. It easily integrates with other applications.
GPO
Group Policy Object
A collection of settings that can be used to define and enforce security-related configurations for users and computers in an organization’s network. It provides centralized configuration management for how the system will behave for a defined group of users, processes, or computers.
GPS
Global Positioning System
A network of satellites and receiving devices used to determine the location of something on Earth.
GPU
Graphics Processing Unit
An electronic circuit that can perform mathematical calculations at high speed. Assists with tasks like graphics rendering, ML, and video editing.
GRE
Generic Routing Encapsulation
A protocol for encapsulating data packets that use one routing protocol inside the packets of another protocol. Helps in setting up a direct point-to-point connection across a network, for the purpose of simplifying connections between separate networks.
It enables the usage of protocols that are not normally supported by a network.
