What are moulds?

A

Moulds are multicellular, filamentous fungi often divided by septa into uni-nucleate, cell like units.
- When conditions are favourable, hyphae grow to form a filamentous mass called mycelium. E.g. Ringworm, tinea

A

Subcutaneous - rare infections caused by direct implantation

What are yeasts?

A

Yeasts are non filamentous, unicellular fungi that are typically spherical or oval shaped.
- They reproduce asexually by fission or budding
- They are facilitative anaerobes
E.g. Used in wine brewing
