Principles of Krav Maga
A
- Should address immediate danger and counter simultaneously
- Based on natural instinctive movements
- Should be accessible to average person
- Should work from position of disadvantage
- One defense should work for variety of attacks
- System should be integrated
- Should train under stress/pressure

Principles & Why
A
We take Fighting Stance we do:
- To invite straight punch that we can REDIRECT vs meet head on (size disparity)
- To preserve the counter attack
- To optimize our entry and movement into control position (to dead side)
For every technique:
- What is the danger, nature of it, other dangers?
- What is the power of my counter attack?
- How am I moving into control position and what’s important about that?

Fighting Stance
A
- Feet hip width apart w/ toes pointing towards target
- Knees slightly bent
- Weight evenly distributed and on the ball of your rear foot
- Heel of back leg is up
- Hands up at chin height, ~ 6 and 12 inches from face, elbows in tight
- Core is tight and chin is tucked
- READY TO MOVE!

Movement
A
- Push off with proper foot as move other foot then close distance
- Quick, shuffling movements
- Stay close to ground
- Even weight distribution on balls of feet
- Maintain stable fighting stance
- Do not cross your feet
