Wei Qi is defensive Qi, for adjusting pores - Regulates the water passages (body fluids)

- House the zhi (will to life)
MINGMEN: essential aspect of kidney function. Right kidney is mingmen which is residence of shen . In women connected to uterus and in men it stores Jing.
FUNCTIONS OF MINGMEN:
- Root of original QI
- Source of fire for the internal organs
- Warms the lower mingmen and the bladder
- Warms stomach and spleen and aids digestion
- Harmonizes sexual functions, warms Jing and the uterus
- Assists the kidneys in the reception of qi
- Assist the heart function of housing the shen

- Manifests in complexion
- Opens into toungue. Heat is dry and dark, red tip. Ulcers is severe heat, blood deficiency is pale and thin. Imbalance also causes stuttering, incessant laughter or speech

- Houses Shen (consciousness, sleep, memory, clarity, emotional health)
Bad influences: cold and salt, yang diseases, heat
