Ma Huang Tang Ephedra Decoction
Release Exterior: wind cold excess
Arrests wheezing from wind cold, no sweating with fever and chills, headache, general body aches, wheezing
Ma Huang ephedra, Xing Ren Armenia, Gui zhi cinnamomi, zhi gan cao licorice
P: floating and tight = cold
T: thin white coat
Modify by taking away Gui zhi and zhi gan cao for release exterior wind cold and disseminate lung qi, for nasal congestion and runny nose, not as strong, loss of voice.
Gui Zhi Tang Cinnamon Twig Decoction
Release Exterior Wind Cold from XU
Releases pathogens from muscle layer and Wei Qi layer
Fever and chills unrelieved by sweating, headache, aversion to wind, stiff neck, nasal congestion, no thirst.
P: floating, frail
T: thin white moist coat
Releases muscles, less forceful, sweating, wei qi xu
Yin Qiao San Honeysuckle and Forsythia Powder
Release Exterior: Wind Heat from Wei Qi level
Disperse wind heat, clear heat relieve toxicity
For fever, chills, Headache, sore throat, wei qi level sick, cough,

Modify for JUST SORE THROAT:
Take away many and add She Gan Belamcandae to clear heat obstructions and Ma Bo Lasiophaera to reduce swelling for throat pain

Clear Heat from Qi Level/ Yang Ming Channel (Blazing Heat)
Drains STomach fire,
Generate Fluids
Alleviate Thirst
High fever with profuse sweating, aversion to heat, red face, severe thirst, irritability, May also include headache toothache, bleeding gums or nose
P: flooding, forceful or slippery, rapid
Can modify by adding cinnamon twig for swelling aching of joints. T: white coat, P: wiry rapid

Xiao Chai Hu Tang Minor Bupleurum Decoction
Harmonizes and releases Wei Qi invasion, Shao Yang stage
Alternating fever and chills, dry throat, bitter taste, dizziness, irritability, fullness in chest, hypochondria, heartburn, N/V, no desire to eat,

INGREDIENTS
Chai Hu bupleuris: vents pathogens in shao yang disorders, spreads liver qi

Epigastrium focal distention, fullness and tightness with little or no pain, dry heaves or vomiting, borborygmus with diarrhea, reduced appetite, blockage in epigastrium

Si Ni Tang Frigid Extremities Decoction
Warm Interior Cold and rescue devastated Yang
For shao yin disorder
Rescues devastated yang, warms middle burner, stops diarrhea
Extremely cold extremities, aversion to cold, curling up when lying down, lethargic with desire to sleep, vomiting, diarrhea with undigested food, abdominal pain and cold, lack of thirst
T: pale body, white slippery coat
P: submerged and thin
INGREDIENTS;
Fu Zi Aconite: breaks through yin to resolve the yang, warms at gate of vitality to reach extremities
Gan Jiang Zingiberis: warms middle burner and eliminates cold, to strengthen SP T and T

Zhi Gan Cao licorice: augments qi, strengthen spleen, reduces toxicity of fu zi, moderates drying power of both C and D

Warms Interior Cold for blood xu with cold in channels

Cold invasion, hands and feet long standing cold to touch
Can injure fluids, so not used when fire is from yin xu
LI Zhong Wan Regulate the Middle Pill
Warm Interior Cold and dispel Cold
For middle burner cold from XU, bleeding due to middle burner yang xu
Warms middle burner, strengthens SP and ST
Diarrhea with watery stool, N/V, no thirst, loss appetite, abdominal pain
T: pale, P: submerged and thin
Nosebleeds, vomiting blood, excessive menstrual bleeding, bleeding from rectum, internal bleeding. Blood is pale and cold extremities, pale complexion
Don’t use with yin xu.

Adds Sha Ren Amomum and Mu Xiang and Sheng Jiang: more drying and moving than 6 Gents
