Functions Of Cell Structures Flashcards
What is the function of the nucleus?
The nucleus contains DNA for proteins to build new cells.
What is the function of the cytoplasm?
The cytoplasm is a liquid substance in which chemical reactions occur.
The cytoplasm contains enzymes which are biological catalysts ( proteins that speed up the rate of reaction)
Organelles are found in the cytoplasm
What is the function of the cell membrane?
The cell membrane controls what enters and leaves the cell.
What is the function of the mitochondria?
The mitochondria is where aerobic respiration reactions occur, making energy for the cell.
What is the function of the ribosomes?
The ribosomes are where protein synthesis occurs
What are the function of chloroplasts?
Chloroplasts are where photosynthesis occurs, providing food for the plant, it also contains chlorophyll ( which makes the plant green) which harvests the light needed for photosynthesis.
