Twin Blocks general info
Most pouplar functional Well tolarettaed by patints Removable 2 pieces Can be modified to correct AP Vertical and transverse: MES, Z spung, active labial bow, acrylic covarage lower incisors. Must be worn full time

Posterior teeth can erupt if acrylic is removed to correct deep bites

Pt need lots of encouragement Removable - needs patinets compliance Difficult to wear at the start Affects speach Results in post ob LAFH is increased ( disadv for pt that already have LAFH incresed)
Herbst how does it work?
2 sections - 1 attaches to the upper buccalteeth and one to the lowe buccal teeth
The 2 sections are joined by a rigid arm that is activated , this postures mandible forwards

Fiexed - dosen t require compliance
Well tolatmrated
Good for aesthetic
Easy to talk and eat
Incresed brakages

Fifficult to fit and repair
MOA- how does it work?
One piece
Minimal acrylic
No molar capping allows posetrior molar eruption ( works well in Open bite)
Upper and lowr parts are joined together by acrylic
Between the acrylic parts is an anterios breathing hole
