What is abuse?
considered to be abused if he or she is treated in a way that is unacceptable in a given culture at a given time
'’Any action by another person – adult or child – that causes significant harm to a child. It can be physical, sexual or emotional, but just as often can be about a lack of love, care and attention.”
Different types of child abuse:
Physical abuse
Sexual abuse
Emotional or psychological abuse
Neglect
What dose physical abuse involve?
hitting shaking throwing poisoning burning scalding drowning suffocating also Munchhausen's syndrome by proxy
What is Sexual abuse?
forcing or persuading a child to take part in sexual activities (includes sending sexually explicit text messages)
What is Emotional or psychological abuse ?
trying to : scare isolate ignore humiliate
What is Neglect ?
failure to provide the right care and attention - e.g. food, warmth, security and love
