Fuel Types Flashcards
1
Q
What are some fuel types?
A
- diesel
- kerosene
- LPG/LNG- liquid petroleum gas/ liquid Nitrale gases
- petrol
- biofuel
2
Q
What negative affects of petrol to your engine?
A
- flammable
- carbon build up / deposits in combustion chamber , valves, exhaust, oil
3
Q
what are negative affects do diesel to your engine ?
A
- soot/ particulates
- exhaust + oil
- air/ fuel ratios can affect this - blocks air filters
4
Q
What negative affects does kerosene have for your engine?
A
- it doesn’t have lubricating qualities
- soot/ particulates
- slower burn rate
- lower energy density
5
Q
What negative affects does LPG/LNG have for your engine?
A
- highly flammable
- extremely toxic - well ventilation
- leaks are identified and repair
6
Q
Why do we use diesel for our industry?
A
Combustible- flash point above 37.8 degree
Slower burnings but higher energy density
so through engine design can get more torque
7
Q
What is flash point?
A
Flash point - the temp at which flammable liquid gives off enough vapour to ignite
