Fuel System Flashcards
Where are the Master fuel quantity indicators located?
Cockpit
What is the indicating system powered by?
28VDC
In the event of a power failure what will the fuel indicators display?
Zero
When will the TANK FUEL LOW caution light illuminate?
Less than 130lbs in the collector bay.
How many magnasticks are in each main tank?
2
What is the total usable fuel in the main tanks?
5678lbs
What is the maximum imbalance permitted in the main tanks?
600lbs
When does the ENG FUEL PRESS caution light illuminate?
Fuel boost pressure to engine inlet below 5.5PSI
What does the green advisory light adjacent to the switch illuminate in response to?
The pump is providing pressure.
What are the auxiliary pumps powered by?
Variable AC
What drives the engine driven high pressure fuel pump?
Engine accessory gearbox.
Above 40% engine speed the high pressure pump output to the MFC exceeds engine requirements. What is the excess used for?
Motive flow from the ejector pumps.
What is the maximum refuelling pressure?
50 PSI
What does the FUELLING ON caution light indicate?
The master REFUEL or DEFUEL switch has been left on.
If the FUELLING ON caution light is illuminated, what is inhibited?
Fuel transfer.
Is over wing refuelling permitted?
No - OM requirement.
When transferring fuel, which pump provides motive flow?
The donor tank
What is the useable capacity of the Auxilliary fuel system?
4566lbs
Where is fuel tank temperature measured?
Fuel tank temperature is measured from the left collector bay. The PROB is submersed in the fuel itself.
What does the fuel scavenge system achieve?
Fuel tank scavenging takes place using ejector pumps to keep the collector bays full, thus ensuring that the engine feed boost ejector pumps do not run dry regardless of aircraft attitude.
Where does motive flow fuel required for the scavenge system come from?
High pressure return fuel from the MFC
What is the purpose of the AUX PUMPS?
A backup source of fuel boost pressure.
Under what conditions will aux pump (s) be on?
Aux pump switch is on, transferring fuel & when de-fuelling.
What does an ENGINE FUEL PRESS caution light tell you?
The engine driven pump inlet boost pressure drops below a predetermined value.
How does the fuel heating system work?
Fuel is heated by hot engine lubricating oil and is then filtered.
Is it possible for unfiltered fuel to enter an engine?
Yes, if it is the FUEL FLTR BYPASS caution light illuminates.
What happens to the cockpit fuel QTY indicators when the QTY TEST button is pressed?
The fuel gauge pointers increase to full scale.
What happens if electrical power to a cockpit fuel gauge is lost?
The fuel gauge indicator drops to a position below zero
What happens if electrical power fails during refuelling?
If power failure is experienced during refueling, the associated control valve closes.
How do you know if the refuel / defuel access panel door has been left open?
You don’t know.
