2, powered from seperate essential busses.
Fault light illuminates along with the CHECK FIRE DET.
What happens when the PULL FUEL OFF handle is pulled?
Fuel and hydraulic emergency shut offs a closed and arms the discharge squib of each extinguisher bottle.
What does the yellow disc missing indicate?
Either or both bottles have been discharged.
What does the red disc indicate?
Thermal over pressure in either bottle.
When/where does the toilet fire extinguisher discharge?
Wax plug is melted at 76 degrees.
Into the disposal bin.
What areas of the Dash 8 are fixed fire extinguishers provided for?
Engine nacelles, APU & lavatory
What indications will the crew get when an engine fire is detected?
Engine Fire light, Master Warning light, Check fire det light, Pull fuel off handle light, bell.
Will the Engine fire extinguishing system activate automatically upon detection of a fire?
No the crew must initiate the fire extinguishing system
What indications will the crew get when smoke is detected in the baggage compartment?
Red SMOKE warning light illuminates.
How many smoke detectors are fitted to the aircraft?
Three - Lavatory, 2 Baggage
How are the fire extinguisher discharge circuits powered?
The battery power bus
How is the engine fire extinguishing system armed?
By pulling the “PULL FUEL OFF” handle
