Destination Alternate Fuel
• fuel for one missed approach to 1500 ft AGL
• fuel for a LRC diversion to an alternate aerodrome from 1500 ft AGL
• fuel for approach and landing at the alternate
• holding fuel (if required)
• fixed reserve
Enroute Alternate Requirements
The amount of fuel required at the enroute alternate aerodrome is the fuel required:
• to hold for 15 minutes at 1500 ft AFE,
• conduct an instrument approach and land.
Min Fuel at Destination
minimum of 45 minutes, inclusive of the 30 minutes fixed reserve.
(This is to allow for contingencies and to satisfy the requirements of Basic Aviation Risk Standard (BARS) and CASR 121 Manual of Standards when a destination alternate is not planned)
Ways of Making Fuel Enroute
- setting Long Range Cruise for the aircraft to
- changing the route to utilise more favourable winds or
- track shortening as approved by ATC.
