8
Q

For operations with greater than 7,700 KGs in the CWT (CWT pumps on), you start and all 4 engines are being supplied with fuel from CWT. when would the fuel configuration change? To what?

A

-Changes when flaps are extended to takeoff position
-Crossfeed valves 2 and 3 automatically close
-CWT supplies fuel to 1 and 4
-Main 2 supplies its respective engine
-Main 3 supplies its respective engine

Q

You takeoff (CWT pumps ON configuration). So CWT is feeding 1 and 4 and main pumps 2 and 3 are feeding their respective engines. At what point does this configuration change? To what?

A

-It changes at flaps not 10 or 20
-Crossfeed valves 2 and 3 open
-CWT feeds all engines

Q

When would you see a FUEL LOW CTR L, R message? What do you do?

A

In climb: 3,200 KGs in CWT
In cruise: 1,300 KGs in CWT

What to do? Turn off the CWT pumps.

11
Q

Prior to seeing a FUEL LOW CTR, there will be a “shared flow” condition where the center pumps cant override 1 and 4 main pumps. What quantity does this occur, what fuel flow, and how much is burned from tanks 1 and 4?

A

Quantity: 2,300 kgs in CWT

Flow: Greater than 6,800 kgs

Burned from 1 and 4: 900 kgs

Remember: SHARED FLOW= 2300/6800/900

12
Q

After seeing the FUEL LOW CTR L, R message you’ve shut off the center wing tank pumps. How is the plane configured?

A

-Center pumps are off
-Override/jettison pumps 2 and 3 are supplying fuel to all engines
(1 and 2 are feeding from override/jettison 2)
(3 and 4 are feeding from override/jettison pump 3)

Q

When would you see a FUEL TANK/ENG EICAS message? What would you do?

A

-Main tank 2 is equal or less than main tank 1
or
-Main tank 3 is equal or less than main tank 4
-What to do? “Take a shower and go to bed.” Turn off the override/jettison pumps and close the 1 and 4 crossfeed valves. Configuring for “tank to engine”

16
Q

If you had LESS than 7,700 kgs in the CWT before start, how would you configure the plane?

A

-CWT pumps OFF
-Override/jettison pumps 2 and 3 would feed their respective sides of the airplane.

17
Q

When would fuel from 1 transfer to 2, and 4 transfer to 3 automatically?

A

-Only during jettison, when the respective inboard reaches 9,072 KGs

18
Q

When would you get the EICAS FUEL IMBAL 2-3?

A

When the difference between 2 and 3 is 2,720 KGs

19
Q

When would you get the EICAS FUEL IMBALANCE?

A

-Longitudinal imbalance
-It is between 2 and 3 compared to 1 and 4. Basically inboards versus outboards
-That number is 2,720 KGs

20
Q

When would you get the EICAS FUEL IMBAL 1-4?

A

When the difference between tank 1 and 4 is 1,360 KGs

21
Q

When would any EICAS message for a fuel imbalance go away?

A

After that imbalance reaches 450 KGs or less

22
Q

What is the standpipe level in main tanks 2 and 3 for the override/jettison pumps?

A

3,200 KGs

23
Q

When would you get a FUEL TEMP LOW and see and amber indication on EICAS?

A

-37 C
