Fuel Flashcards
Where are the standby fuel pumps located?
In the respective collector tank.
When is the standby boost pump automatically activated?
- Activation of the ignition starter switch
- Cross transfer of fuel
What will happen when the engine driven high pressure pump fails?
The engine will fail
What happens if the electric standby pump fails?
The ability to cross transfer fuel is lost.
What is the function of the P3 purge tank in the fuel system?
It is designed to assure that any residual fuel in the fuel manifolds is consumed during engine shut down.
Fuel flow indicators are powered by?
24 or 28 VDC
What is the maximum fuel imbalance between each wing?
200lbs
Can you transfer fuel from the left side to the right side if the left firewall fuel valve is closed?
Yes.
How do the transfer jet pumps operate?
Motive flow
What does the illumination of the L COL TANK LOW light indicate?
Fuel quantity is below 53 lbs of useable fuel in the left fuel tank.
What has happened if the L FW VALVE annunciator is illuminated?
The firewall valve is not in the selected position.
How long can either engine be running with the FUEL PRESS LO annunciator illuminated?
10 hrs
What fuel system components are located on the hot battery bus?
L/R firewall shut-off valve
What are the limitations when using AVGAS?
- 150hrs of operation before engine overhaul
- 18,000ft altitude restriction
- Both standby pumps must be operative
The maximum useable fuel in each main tank is?
1621lbs
With the main and auxiliary tank full, what is going to happen with the fuel in the event of thermal expansion?
Fuel from the main tank is going to flow out of of the main tank onto the ground.
What needs to be done to transfer fuel from the left auxiliary tank to the right collector tank in case of a left engine failure?
The left auxiliary fuel pump needs to be switched on and the cross-transfer switch needs to be selected to the right.
