Symptoms of FTD_behavioural type
A
- Disinhibition (socially inappropriate behaviour, loss of manners, impulsivity)
- Apathy/inertia
- Loss of sympathy/empathy
-Perseverative, stereotyped and compulsive behaviour - hyperorality/dietry changes
- executive dysfunctions

A
- loss of insight
- impaired social cognition
- altered sensitivity to pain and/or temperature
- Delusions and /or hallucinations (usually visual)

A
Controlling symptoms and helping patient and their caregivers cope with impact of their illness

Non-pharmalogical Management of FTD options:
A
- Simple interventions help govern troublesome behaviours and contribute to stable routine (puzzles, music, controlled access to food/drink)
-Speech and language therapy + assessment of swallowing and advice on dietary modification
- Programmed respite, counselling and psychological support for caregivers
- Genetic counselling of at-risk family members

Pharmacological Management of FTD
A
- Careful: Cholinesterase inhibitors and memantine may aggravate behavioural disturbance
- Small, double blind, controlled trials provided evidence for modest improvement with behavioural symptoms using SSRIs
