Who is Walt Whitman?

A

Walt Whitman is an author who lived between 1819 and 1892. He was called America’s national poet and he believed in gathering broad experience. He developed a new kind of poetry, and it is free verse. He wrote Leaves of Grass - his life’s work. He was very distressed by the Civil War.
