Frequency response Flashcards
1
Q
What is the range of frequencies that we can hear roughly?
A
20 Hz to 20 Khz
2
Q
What is produced when you sing or play an instrument? Describe.
A
Overtones (as well as the main (fundamental) note). These are additional notes at frequencies above the fundamental that add character to the sound.
3
Q
Why are overtones important?
A
Important to capture the overtones of a sound for good quality recording or amplification.
4
Q
What is a roll off switch?
A
A switch that reduces the sensitivity below a certain frequency to help reduce unwanted noise.
5
Q
What affects the frequency response and general sensitivity of a mic?
A
The shape of the mic body, the size of the diaphragm and the design of the pick-up components.
