French Negation
I know.
I do not know.
Ne + Pas is only used when negating verbs: “ne pas verb” is used for negating an infinitive (They told us not to go - Ils nous ont dit de ne pas aller).
“ne verb pas” is used when negating a conjugated verb (I am not Bertrand - Ne je suis pas Bertrand).
When negating non-verbs, pas can be used on its own.
