Free will Flashcards
two properties of free action:
- autonomy (no external influence)
2. authorship (done by the agent, and district from randomness).
explin the principle of alternative principles
refuted by what cases?
one can do otherwise under the same circumstances. and it’s against compatibility.
Refuted b Frankfurt cases (trump voters and the evil scientist).
differences between freedom of action and freedom of will
of actoin means one can act according to ones will (compatible with compatibility, but not with cases of addiction)
of will: being able to determine ones will (incompatible with compatibilism). PAP
Impossibilism
freedom is impossible in deterministic world (incompatible) and indeterministic world (chaos, whos is the agent it’s not determined).
so freedom of will is impossible.
What is self-determination
- action is determined by the features that constitute the self.
- we can explain why individual chose to do x not y based on his personal preferences.
