What type of fracture is most common seen associated with child abuse?
A
Spiral fractures are most commonly associated with child abuse. A spiral fracture is one caused by a forceful twisting motion.

What type of fracture did I have when I broke my arm on the trampoline?
A
My arm fracture would have been considered a buckle or torus fracture. This is when a fracture is caused by compression such as my body compressing my arm, causing it to break.

What are the 5 P’s of assessing a fracture and what are we most concerned leading to this type of assessment?
A
*pain
*pallor
*pulses
*pressure
*paresthesia/paralysis
*also poikilothermia- changes in temp of skin
In assessing a fracture, we are most concerned for compartment syndrome.
