Q

What is the formation of oil and natural gas?

A
  • Plant animals died, fell to the bottom of the sea.
  • covered in mud.
  • covered by more sediment, changed into rock as the temperature and pressure increased.
  • remains were chemically altered by the process and firmed oil and natural gas.
  • oil moved through spaces in the permeable rock and can be git by drilling in rock

Q

How was coal formed?

A

Millions of years ago, plants died in swamps.
When plants died they were buried in mud which stopped them from rotting away. Buried in the absense of oxygen and compressed. The heat and pressure turned the mud into rock and the plant fossils into coal
