after 3 years on bisphosphonates
if osteonecrosis suspected- stop to allow for bone recovery
factors that increase risk of osteonecrosis
radiation, chemotherapy, steroid therapy, cancer, anemia, infection, dental surgery, poor dental health, gum disease, poor nutrition, cigarettes, poor blood circulation, alcohol abuse
patient teaching
routine dental hygiene
take Fosamax with® with full glass of plain water
stay upright after swallowing tablet
