Note - shorter cooking time - 20 mins & 2:1 watering down

  9. *Jie Geng - Transform phlegm; throat

A

Yin Qiao Ma Bo San - Clears heat, resolves toxicity & drains heat from the Lungs to improve fx. of the throat.

W/H pathogen - difficulty & painful (Bi) obstruction in throat D/H collecting in lungs

* D/H collecting in the Lungs; sore throat, red tongue & rapid pulse reflect the presence of heat, while the thick tongue coating/slippery pulse indicate dampness. If the damp-heat is relatively superficial, the tongue coating will be white & the pulse will float; if it penetrates deeper, the tongue coating will turn yellow & pulse will no longer float.

A

H/A in any part of the head - due to externally contracted wind, may be also have fever & chills, dizziness, nasal congestion, a thin, white tongue coating, & a floating pulse.

* Head is meeting place of Yang channels - only wind is able to stir up and reach vertex of the head. Four deputies & chief herb disperse wind from head & release the exterior.

* Take in powder form with green tea

* Allergy conditions or sinus infections, deep sinus blockage, rhinitus, sinusitis & H/A’s related to these conditions.

*Sore throat due to Post nasal drip.

Using for W/H but not that cold…functions of deep nasal congestion is key in this formula

  1. higher doses to relieve toxicity; lower doses for decoction; can be used both ways but better as powder
  2. In powder form - higher doses when used in powder form - still written as Yin Qiao San even though in powder form esp. bc Yin Qiao Tang is a different formula altogether (aftermath of Wen Bing diseases w. damage to Yin)
