formative assessment Flashcards
where does corticobubar tract originate from?
primary motor cortex in precentral gyrus
which 2 CN dont have bilateral innervation in corticobulbar tract ?
CN 12
lower part of CN 7
- if you wnat to have motor output to 3rd nerve, both left and right ocroticobular tract innervate the occulomotor nerve
-
wehre does corticobubar tract leave?
in the brainstem at the revelant CN
7th nerve palsy
lower motor neurone - unilateral complete facial palsy (no forehead sparing)
central / upper lesions eg stroke, tumour - if you have on left side, the right side will still supply input to upper faical nucleu –> forehead sparing
where does rubrospinal tract originate from?
red nucleus
decorticate –
arms on top
decerbrate
arms at side
upper limbs extended
why does decorticate / decerbrate posture happen?
no injury to brain - corticospinal
lesion above midbrain - no corticospinal to spinal cord so only rubro and reticulo left
-
