The antebellum period
A
-The north and south were very divided and the south supported slavery and relied on it
- enslaved women went through a lot of trauma such as sexual exploitation and inequality
-Manifest Destiny was the idea that white Americans were divinely ordained to settle in the continent of North America (remove the native population)
-“Get in formation” reference to the Indians forced march off of their land. Line up of the women represents the forced march. Shows the power the colonists had over the indians.
