Johnson wanted Britains support for the Vietnam war but Wilson knew the war was unpopular with the left
Britain could not afford to help in the war but America threatened the devaluation of the pound
Why was labour not very committed to joining the EEC

Foot and castle and the trade unions were also hostile

Describe the independence of Rhodesia
It broke in 3 in 1963 and south Rhodesia wanted independence from Britain
Ian smith attempted to do this without majority so Britain tried to punish them economically
Wilson and smith met in 1966 and Wilson put oil sanctions in place , this caused no issues because Rhodesia got oil elsewhere
They met again in 1968 and smith remained strong making Britain look weak to the commonwealth
