Hat is reconciliation?
Reconciliation is the ending of a dispute or the restoring of a good relationship between people who have been in dispute.
What is forgiveness?
Forgiveness is when we forgive people for something which they have done wrong.
What do Christians think of forgiveness?
Although it can be hard, Christians are encouraged to do so. Jesus said many things about forgiveness. Forgiveness and love are the centre of Jesus’ teaching: ‘love your neighbour as yourself’. If Christians wish to be forgiven by god, they should be prepared to forgive other people. This does not mean that people who do wrong should get away with it but if they are truly sorry they should be forgiven.
How can people ask for forgiveness?
In the Roman Catholic Church, a person can ask for forgiveness thorough the Sacrament of Reconciliation, where they tell a priest what they have done and the priest helps them to make amends for their action through prayer and repentance.
