-Leuchomalachite green
(LMG is oxisised in the presence of H2O2 and blood)
positive result= green colour
-Katle meyer test
Phenolphthalein is oxidised in the presence of H2O2 and blood
positive result = red/pink colour
-Luminol
Chemiluminescence in the presence of Hb and light
Shows hidden crime scenes
Preliminary testing:Semen
Microscopy - Dampened blotting paper applied to area. spermatozoa
-acid phosphatase- purple colour, degree proportional to quantity of enzyme
- p30 -prostate specific antigen
sterile-no spermatozoa present
Preliminary testing for saliva
Starch/Iodine test -blue/black
salivary amylase
saliva may contain bacterial/cheek tissue and therefore a source of DNA
