Forearm/Wrist Flashcards
Describe movement of radius during pronation
Radius crosses anterior to ulna
Lister’s Tubercle
Dorsal distal radius, in line with middle finger
Directs line of force for EPL to 45 degrees to form boundary of snuffbox
Radial Styloid
Cancellous bone - Prone to fractures
Extremely painful because of proximity of dorsal radial sensory nerve
Radial collateral ligament attachment
Ulnar Styloid
Associated with the triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC), ECU tendon, ulnar collateral ligament attacments
Radial Inclination
22 degrees toward ulna
Favors ulnar deviation
Distal radius Volar Tilt
11 degrees toward palm
Favors flexion over extension
Scaphoid
In anatomical snuffbox, prominent with ulnar deviation
Surface is 80% articular cartilage –> OA common
Retrograde perfusion –> slow healing/ malunion
Keinbock’s
Avascular necrosis of lunate
Pisiform
Sesamoid in FCU tendon
Capitate
Axis of wrist motion
