what is work done stored as in an elastic object?
A
When you apply force to an elastic object (an object that will go back after stretching) you may cause it to change shape and stretch. To do this work is done, the energy is not lost but is stored as Elastic Potential Energy , which is then converted into kinetic when released

The limit of proportionality is the maximum force the elastic object can take and still extend proportionally

what happens is you go further than the limit of proportionality?
A
If you go beyond the limit the object will be permanently stretched

Power is the rate of doing work and is measure in watts or J/s

A
