Current and Potential Difference Flashcards
what is current?
Current is the flow of electrical charge around the circuit. It will only flow through a component if there is a potential difference across that component
what is potential difference?
Potential difference is the driving force that pushes the current round
what is resistance?
Resistance is anything in the circuit which slows the flow down
what is the rule of resistance?
The greater the resistance across a component, the smaller the current that flows
what is current measured in?
Current is measured in amperes (I)
what is charge measured in?
Charge is measured in coulombs (c)
what is time measured in?
Time is measured in seconds (s)
what is potential difference?
Potential difference is the work done per coulomb that passes between two points in an electrical circuit
