Exam for peroneal tendonopathy
Look for hindfoot varus
Swelling over tendons

Retromalleolar
Lateral hindfoot along tendons
Peroneal compression test
-pain swelling and popping at posterior edge of fibula during forceful eversion and dorsiflexion
At level of malleolus where are the peroneal tendons?
Retromalleolar, in fibular groove
Brevis is anterior medial (behind malleolus)
Flat foot exam?
Valgus hindfoot, forefoot abduction, flattening on longitudinal arches
Where do you get callus’ in Pes planus?
Base of 1st medial - ass. W hallux valgus
Plantar surface of medial cuneiform
Possibly talar head if uncovered
Where do you get callus in Cavovarus foot?
Base of 5th, dorsum of 1st mtp, because of flexed mt’s
Layers of the foot (superficial to deep)
- FDB, ADM, Abd Hall
- QP & Lumbricals; FHL/FDL tendons; medial and lateral plantar arteries
- FHB, 2 heads of adductor hallucis, FDMB
- Dorsal & Plantar interossei; tib post/peroneus longus tendons
Muscles supplied by medial plantar nerve
Abductor hallucis
Flexor hallucis brevis
Flexor digitorum brevis
Lumbricals to 2nd/3rd toes
Muscles supplied by lateral plantar nerve
Sensation?
Abductor digiti minimi QP Adductor hallucis (2 heads) Flexor digiti minimi brevis Lumbricals to 4th/5th toes interossei
Sensory to lateral 4th toe, and entire 5th toes
