Test for sugars
A
Benedict’s solution is used to test for sugars. First the solution is added into the sample, it is then placed in a water bath set to 75 degree. Leave it in there for 5 minutes. It will turn from blue to green, yellow or brick-red

A
Add iodine solution. It will turn from browny-orange to blue-black

Test for proteins
A
The test for protein uses the Biuret solution. It will turn from blue to purple.

A
Add Sudan III solution. It will separate the sample into two layers: the bottom is clear and the top layer will be bright red.
